FAQ

Q: What should I bring?

A: As you will see in our Showcase, the terrain and weather can very greatly. The type of clothing you bring can depend on the hunt you go on and the time of year. But here are the basics:

• Rifle and ammunition (243 caliber or larger, sighted for 300 yards)

• One article of fluorescent clothing

• Hunting boots (leather and waterproof a must!) Two pair is a good idea, one insulated for                    cold weather and one normal weight. If bringing only one pair, be prepared for cold, wet weather

• Bring warm clothing, layers are best, as they can be shed away.

Q: Where do I meet you to start my hunt?

A: We will meet you in Sheridan, WY.

Q: Do I need a hunter safety card?

A: Anyone born after 1965, must have a copy of their hunter safety course card on their person while hunting. If you have taken the course but don’t have the certification card, please contact the state in which you took the course and get a copy.

Q: How do I get a tag?

A: Wyoming has a state drawing for elk and deer that is on a preference point system. Drawing odds for the elk are increased with acquired preference points, but unlike other states, there is a pool of licenses set aside for those without any preference points. The application period for elk ends on January 31st and the application for deer ends May 31st.

Wyoming has a preference point application period as well. For those wanting to obtain just a preference point for the following year, this can be done between July 1st and October 31st. The cost of an elk preference point is $50.

If you have any questions about the application process, please feel free to contact us. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Q: If I wound an animal and we are unable to recover it, can I keep hunting?

A: No. It is our policy that if you wound an animal, your hunt is over. Taking the shot is always your decision. Never shoot unless you are certain you can make a good hit.

Q: Do you have any references of people who have hunted with you in the past?

A: Yes, references are available upon request.
